ASSIGNMENT of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy – Major Project PPT | Statement of Purpose (SoP) |
Resume 1) Major Project PPT – We were asked to submit a PPT focusing on our Master’s Project. The highlights include – Objective & basis of the project | Research Specific Solution & Innovation | Practical Implementation & Validation of the Project | Relevance of the Project with Wind Turbine Design.
2) SoP – We were also asked to write a SoP (in 1500 – 2000 words) so as to how our specialization in Master’s would help in Wind Turbine Design technologically & How would we plan to use our learnings in real-time when we were on Job at SGRE.
3) Resume – Had to submit our resume along with first two assignments. This round was not an eliminating round. Assignments we asked as a reference for Technical Interview. T
TECHNICAL INTERVIEW of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy– This was a 1.5 hr Technical Interview and was very different from the interviews of other companies. It started with Introduction, where the Interviewer first made it clear that he would be focusing only on my Master’s Degree and there would be no discussion about Bachelor’s.
The first question was about the subjects that I studied as a part of Master’s Curriculum and my favorite subjects among those. I mentioned Vibrations and Composites as my area of Interest. The 1.5 hr Slot can be split into three sections of 30 mins each.
In first slot he asked about Vibrations, where he first asked me to be specific on my known topics in Vibrations. He touched only those topics that I have mentioned.(Some topics were – Solution of a general SDoF System, Response of a SDoF System, Transfer Function, Resonance Effects, Damping Effects)
In second slot of 30 mins, we discussed on my Master’s Project. He asked me to present the already submitted PPT. Had a good discussion on the project. His focus here was to understand the purpose of my project & the process that I am following to achieve the objectives. This was a sponsored project, and he was not at all interested in the advantage the sponsoring company got from the project, but was interested in the work done by me, the engineering principles being used & my contribution in the work.
In last 30 mins, he asked about Composites (Orthotropic Materials | Anisotropic Materials | Stress-Strain Plot for Orthotropic Materials | Stiffness Matrix with all formulas) HR INTERVIEW – This was a relaxed & chilled discussion. Started with my Introduction & as I mentioned about my ongoing Internship, questioned me on the challenges faced during the Internship, how I tried to overcome those challenges & about the chances of PPO by the company.
Then some questions on strengths & weaknesses & my attempts to overcome those. Also asked about my experience at NITK and Leadership skills (I guess to check our adaptability towards the company’s ethics & morals).

The selection procedure of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Interview was lengthy containing 4 rounds.
(1) Written Test of Siemens Gamesa : Only Aptitude was there. 60 mins of test containing Numerical ability, verbal ability and DATA INTERPRETATION type questions. Most of them were from Data interpretation.
(2) Assignments of Siemens Gamesa: Containing 2 assignments. SOP writing on how your learning in Master degree can be helpful in designing of a wind turbine in 1500-2000 words and PPT on your Master’s Thesis.
(3) Technical Interview of Siemens Gamesa: He started with my MTech Project and discussed it for 30 mins. Then he started asking about other projects that I had mentioned in the Resume. He asked about the courses I have studied in MTech and from there he started asking the basic questions from HMT, AFM, and CFD. Since I had done an assignment on the flow over cylinder problem, he asked me about vortex shedding and Navier Stoke’s equation. He gave a few real-life problems and asked me how I would solve that.
He asked me equations also like the correlation of Nu number and Lumped analysis equation. He also asked me how would I optimize the finned surface heat exchanger. What will be the parameters to take into account? He asked me from the SOP also that I had written. In the end, he asked why they should hire me and what makes me stand apart from others.
(4) HR Round of Siemens Gamesa: It was a very chill and relaxed discussion. She started with an introduction and my family background. Then she asked basic HR questions like strengths and weaknesses, what do I know about the company, leadership qualities, team player qualities, hobbies, what differences I observed between North India and South India. Basically, they just want to see if you are fitting with the company’s morals and ethics or not and how do you deal with responsibilities and diversities.

The Selection Procedure of Siemens Gamesa was as follows- 1)Aptitude Test: It was a 60 min test which consisted of Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability and Data Interpretation type questions (It was completely different from previous year’s Aptitude Tests).

3)Technical Interview- This is the deciding point of your selection. Technical interviewer will ask everything about your Project. Be thorough with your project, its implementation and why any particular tool or system is used for your project. They may ask about the various subjects you studied in your course (and some basics).
4)HR Discussion- This is actually like a Discussion session and that is what they like to call it. The interviewer will ask you about yourself, some behavioral questions, challenges you faced during your projects (non-technical type), strengths and weaknesses, long-term & short term goals, etc. He/She will analyze whether you can take responsibilities, whether you really want this job, etc.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR SIEMENS GAMESA INTERVIEW for PGET PROFILE?
1- I made my resume impact-full so that it should give good impression to the interviewer about me.
2- I used to read about the company daily for 30 min. Because if they ask me question like (What you know about the company, why you want to join my company, why should we hire you) I should be able to answer these question in the effective way.
3- I prepared my MTech. project BTech. project and Mini Projects. So that if they ask any question i should be able to answer.
4- I mention in my resume my area of interest ( Vibration, strength of material, machine design, fluid mechanics) so, I read my GATE notes for these subjects. 5- I already prepared most of the possible HR questions answers, so that i should not think more during the interview.
